Ambiental is partnering with Intermap Technologies, global specialists in geospatial intelligence solutions.
Intermap and Ambiental integrate high-quality digital terrain models (DTMs) with cutting edge modelling and risk analytics for underwriting natural hazard risk. Intermap’s digital terrain data reinforces Ambiental’s technology to provide flood forecasting systems and support better decision making for flood and climate risk management across the globe. The combination of bare-earth elevations and hydro enforcement makes Intermap’s DTM very well suited for flood modelling and analytics. Ambiental is part of the global network of Royal HaskoningDHV Digital, which supplies datasets to clients in sectors such as water, industry and mobility.
“We are excited to have a partner that aligns with our global growth ambitions and objectives. Ambiental offers uniquely powerful hazard and climate change products, which are built on Intermap's high-quality global terrain data. Intermap’s innovative and energetic approach to working with us is truly refreshing,” said George Longfoot, COO of Ambiental Risk Analytics.

This visualisation shows a location in Seville in Andalusia in the South of Spain and features, fluvial, pluvial and some tidal flood hazards. Under climate change the pluvial flood risk to properties is shown to increase in severity significantly. The climate change outlook for Spain varies spatially. A warmer climate means increased likelihood and severity of rainstorms. Some locations will experience increased river flows whereas in many catchments the risk is expected to reduce as the climate becomes more arid. The rising sea levels with time will result in an increase in tidal risk for coastal communities.
“Our partnership with Ambiental Risk Analytics is another way Intermap can deliver higher acuity modeling and forecasting solutions to financial institutions and insurers,” said Patrick A. Blott, Intermap’s Chairman and CEO. “The combination of Royal Haskoning’s global markets and Intermap’s global solutions is a perfect fit.”
Ambiental has listened to market demand for European flood data and is rolling out new flood and climate change risk products, built upon the success of tried and tested products for the UK and Ireland. Climate Suite provides a high precision view of flood risk which spans entire countries and enables consistent consideration of risks across Western Europe. Spain flood data is already available and the launch of datasets for France and Portugal is imminent. Our analysists are gaining fascinating insights about the flood risk characteristics of these nations now and in the future under climate change. To find out more visit the Europe Solutions page.
